INSIGHTS TO THE GOSPEL OF THE WEEK

Hebrew 5:7-9

14 April 2019

" INTENSIFY YOUR PRAYER LIKE JESUS CHRIST "

Things to Ponder

1) There are so many records in the Bible that JESUS prays

2) There are so many great personalities in the Bible like King Hezekiah, Prophet Elijah, Etc. that's also prays

3) How about You? Do You pray? How Often?

How intensify the Prayer of JESUS when HE is here on earth?

1) During Baptism

- in Luke 3:211-22 it says,

21 After all the people had been baptized, JESUS also was baptized. While HE was praying, heaven was opened,

22 and the HOLY SPIRIT came down upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are MY own dear Son. I am pleased with you.”

2) Before choosing the 12 Apostles

- in Luke 6:12,

12 At that time JESUS went up a hill to pray and spent the whole night there praying to GOD.

13 When day came, HE called HIS disciples to HIM and chose twelve of them, whom HE named apostles:

3) Before feeding the 5000

- in John 6:11,

11 JESUS took the bread, gave thanks to GOD, and distributed it to the people who were sitting there. HE did the same with the fish, and they all had as much as they wanted.

4) Before raising Lazarus

- in John 6:11,

41 They took the stone away. JESUS looked up and said, “I thank you, FATHER, that you listen to ME.

42 I know that YOU always listen to ME, but I say this for the sake of the people here, so that they will believe that YOU sent ME.

5) Before healing many people

- in Luke 5:15-16,

15 But the news about JESUS spread all the more widely, and crowds of people came to hear HIM and be healed from their diseases.

16 But HE would go away to lonely places, where HE prayed.

6) Before walking on the water

- in Matthew 14:22-23,

22 Then JESUS made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side of the lake, while HE sent the people away.

23 After sending the people away, HE went up a hill by HIMSELF to pray. When evening came, Jesus was there alone;

7) Before HIS death on the cross

- in Matthew 26:26-28, (Last Supper)

26 While they were eating, JESUS took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to HIS disciples. “Take and eat it,” HE said; “this is MY body.”

27 Then HE took a cup, gave thanks to GOD, and gave it to them. “Drink it, all of you,” HE said;

28 “this is MY blood, which seals GOD's covenant, MY blood poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

- in Luke 22:39-40,44, (Gethsemane or Mount of Olives)

39 JESUS left the city and went, as HE usually did, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples went with HIM.

40 When HE arrived at the place, HE said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

44 In great anguish HE prayed even more fervently; HIS sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

-in Hebrew 5:7-9 (Lesson)

- in John 17, (Intercession - the longest Prayer of JESUS ever recorded in the Gospel)

- in Luke 23-34, (Hung On The Cross)

34 JESUS said, “Forgive them, FATHER! They don't know what they are doing.”

They divided HIS clothes among themselves by throwing dice.

- in Luke 23:46, (Last Breath of JESUS)

46 JESUS cried out in a loud voice, “FATHER! In YOUR hands I place MY spirit!” HE said this and died.

So how do we INTENSIFY our Prayer like JESUS?

1) Copy the example of JESUS on how HE Prays

2) Pray as the HOLY SPIRIT leads

- in Ephesians 6:18,

18 Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people.

To Pray

Oh LORD, may we be passionate, steadfast, humble, sincere and without ceasing like YOU when we Pray

in JESUS name. amen amen amen

Luke 6:27-36

" ENEMY LOVERS "

Things to Ponder

1) JESUS commanded us to Love Our Enemies

2) It is very Hard to Do it

3) We can not Do it if we do not Understand Something

To Love Our Enemies,,,

1) Learn and Know who are our enemies

- in Matthew 10:36 it says,

36 your worst enemies will be the members of your own family.

V35 I came to set sons against their fathers, daughters against their mothers, daughters-in-law against their mothers-in-law;

2) Learn and Know who are our real enemies

- identify them

- in Ephesians 6:12

12 For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age.

3) The Grand Plan of the Almighty FATHER

- in Matthew 13:24-30, reading the Story of The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds,  you will understand something...

How are we to Love our Enemies?

1) Greet them with smile

- greet them instead of avoiding them

- it is a good first step

2) Disarm Them

- you disarm them by doing the very thing they least expect

- Romans 12:20 says,

20 Instead, as the scripture says: “If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame.”

3) Do Good to them

- Romans 12:21 says,

21 Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.

- Luke 6:27 JESUS says,

Do Good to those who hate you

- we're not in charge of how people respond

 4) Refuse to speak evil

- in Proverbs 12:18

Thoughtless words can wound as deeply as any sword, but wisely spoken words can heal.

- in Proverbs 15:1

A gentle answer quiets anger, but a harsh one stirs it up.

- some of us need to take a vow of silence

5) Thank GOD for them

- because of them you can be leveled up in virtue

6) Pray for them

- in Luke 6:28 JESUS says

Pray for those who mistreat you

7) Ask GOD to bless them

- be like JESUS when HE is hung on the cross, HE said, “Forgive them, Father! They don't know what they are doing

To Pray

8) Ask the HOLY SPIRIT to bless how to love our enemies, HE has a perfect virtue to do it.

in JESUS name. amen amen amen
